- What does the 'Text Only' site do? |
| The 'Text-Only' version of Blue Direct is for
visually impaired users. By clicking on the 'Text-Only' link you
will be presented with a non-graphical version of the site. The
site will carry a black background and yellow and blue links. See
Fig. 4.02 below for details of changing back to the 'graphical-based'
site. |

| It would appear that you have clicked into the
main 'Text-Only' version of Blue Direct. This site's main user
base will be people with visual impairments. You can get back to
main
'graphical' version of Blue Direct by scrolling to the bottom of
the black page, and clicking on the 'Graphics version of this page'
link. |

| 4.03 - Accessibility
and Blue Direct... |
Accessibility has been at the forefront of
the design of the Blue Direct website. We try, where possible,
to actively
create a site for all users. Some of the accessibility features
built into the site include a 'Text-Only'
version of the site (See Fig.
4.01 above for more details) and Accesskeys. Accesskeys allow
users to navigate the site quickly without using a mouse.

Accesskeys can be used by pressing and holding
the 'Alt' key, then pressing the letter of the section / service
/ feature
you want to go to. Most browsers will go straight to the intended
page. Some browsers may also require you to press
the
'Enter' key after the Alt & Letter keys.
Another useful feature is 'Alt' or 'Title' text descriptions for
objects. For example, if you place your mouse over THIS
LINK you
can see that a 'Tooltip' or 'Explanation' pops out giving you
information. These attributes are used extensively throughout the
site to aid users. If you are unsure of what a link/button might
do, simply place your mouse over it for a description. |

like to advertise my business on Blue Direct... |
There are several ways you can
promote your business on the Blue Direct website. Firstly, you
can purchase an 'Enhanced Listing' which upgrades your free listing
within the site to make it more prominent and stand out against
competitors.
Another way of advertising is by purchasing a 'Button Banner' that
sits on the right-hand side of search results / listings. This
becomes visible when a user searches for a business matching yours.
This gives you directly-targeted marketing. More information can

| You can. The book version of Blue Direct (2005
